Cai's Adventures
Thistledown 23, 12 P.Y., Dawnsong-and-Half
by Anwyn
Yet another restless night spent in this despicable town. Lady Anwyn granted my request to move on to the tent in the mountains, but grew angered with me when I protested her activities in that place. Before venturing into the mountains, M'Lady danced on the roof of the tent with Queen Pandora, and our Knight General, Woodryth the Brave. I would not have expected such behaviour from any of them, save for perhaps Queen Pandora, but I believe the mountain air has made them daft, altered their minds slightly. In any matter, when I protested to such shenanigans, M'Lady sent me off to camp near the Lifestone she is attuned to, to be prepared in case she made trips there that night.
She appeared there only once, cursing horribly for a woman of her station. I ran to her at once with bandages and water, but she waved me off, shouting, "No, Cai, I have no time for this! Damned Amploth!" before disappearing in a swirl of blue and purple clouds. I could not mistake the signs of the beating she had taken, though...the bruise on her head was already turning black, and one eye was already swelling. I waited for hours, hearing no more of the three of them, before M'Lady Anwyn finally magicked herself back to where I sat in wait. I tended to her wounds, and asked her of her travels, but she, for the most part, stayed silent. She mentioned that she had faltered high in the snow-covered mountains, begging the Knight General and Queen to move on without her, but M'Lord Woodryth steadfastly refused to leave her there, with Queen Pandora echoing his sentiments. I will admit this to you, and none other now; I do so wish that M'Lady would look upon M'Lord Woodryth so favourably as she does upon the Wizard, Gabriel. The Knight General would make her a good match, far better than the likes of that Wizard. I shall have to try and make her listen to reason on this. When I mentioned such to her, her face grew hard and cold, before she sent me to set a small camp near the Zaikhal portal. I grew excited, thinking that she meant for us to be moving on to that town soon, but she told me, "You assume too much, Caiwyn Hope. I am sending YOU to that hill, as punishment for your actions which have displeased me. We will not be going to Zaikhal, not anytime soon." With that, she headed for Qalaba'r, to sell her looted treasures, and purchase more components for her spells. She has not returned from town yet, for I would have seen her pass on the road leading to the tent, but I know she shall pass this way soon, as she cannot seem to stay away from the mountains for long...
I do hope to persuade her to move on to Zaikhal soon. She says she has been thinking of returning me to Lytelthorpe to tend to her sick sister, Aylward, but I do not wish to return to that barren town, anymore than I wish to stay her in Qalaba'r.
